Divisional Managing Director: Macarthy's Health Food Division
M.D. of two companies packing and distributing health food products nationwide. Turnover £14 million. Planned the restructuring of the division to restore profitability. This included the centralisation of all activities into one central depot and the subcontracting of all packing operations.
Operations Director: GM Health Care
Held profit responsibility for seven private hospitals owned by Grand Metropolitan with a turnover of in excess of £12 million. 500 staff reported to this position. The quality of patient care was improved, costs reduced and profits increased through a team development programme. This included the implementation of quality circles and the delegation of budgeting to more junior staff, which ensured commitment to those budgets.
Marketing Manager: GM Health Care
Wrote and implemented, in conjunction with the hospital managers, the marketing plans for Grand Metropolitan's private hospitals. Developed plans for entry into the care of the aged market. Formulated, through the use of a specially commissioned database, Grand Metropolitan's hospital new build and acquisition plans. These plans were implemented.
Market Development Manager: Grand Metropolitan's Contract Services Division
Researched new market opportunities throughout the world including; waste management (UK, USA and Middle East), leisure management (Hong Kong), property maintenance (Singapore/Malaysia).
